A controller at a multi-building skilled nursing operator has two AP demos on the calendar this week, Stampli on Tuesday and ours on Thursday, and the same folder open for both. In it are last week's broadline food invoices for each building, a med supply invoice with one line above the GPO contract price, a housekeeping invoice that arrived as a phone photo, and a staffing bill that never had a PO. The AP clerk keyed every one of them into the general ledger by hand, which is why the demos are on the calendar.
Stampli automates accounts payable, and its site says a building on MatrixCare can do that without changing how it uses the EHR. Adelpo is procure-to-pay software built for long-term care, and in it the census from that same EHR sets the per patient day budgets that orders are tracked against before any invoice arrives.
Procure-to-pay means one system carries a purchase from the request through the PO, the receipt, the invoice, and the payment. The question the controller is shopping on is what an invoice gets checked against on the day it lands.
What does Stampli say it does for skilled nursing?
Stampli's healthcare page, titled "Procure-to-Pay for Healthcare, Social Services, Medical Facilities", says, "Skilled nursing facilities are notoriously complex from an accounts payable standpoint." Stampli's MatrixCare page says, "Automate accounts payable without any changes to how you are using MatrixCare's Electronic health record software."
We also looked on stampli.com for census or per patient day budgeting and for a PointClickCare integration page, and found neither on the pages we read. We did not read every page, so either one can exist without appearing on the three pages we read. So the controller should ask Stampli two things: what budget an invoice is checked against, and whether census reaches that budget.
How do Adelpo and Stampli compare for a long-term care operator?
Four points separate Adelpo and Stampli on paper, and all four can be checked on each company's own pages.
| Point | Stampli, from stampli.com | Adelpo |
|---|---|---|
| Setting the page names | Healthcare page is titled "Procure-to-Pay for Healthcare, Social Services, Medical Facilities" | Multi-facility long-term care |
| EHR connection | MatrixCare page says it automates accounts payable with no change to how the EHR is used | Census syncs daily from PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and other EHRs, by API connection or file export |
| Budget tied to census | We did not find it on the pages we read | Per patient day budgets adjust daily from the census sync |
The Stampli column is what its pages say. The Adelpo column is what we run and what adelpo.com states, and the census row is the one to test in both demos.
Why does census matter for AP in a nursing home?
Census matters for AP in a nursing home because the supply budget is often stated per patient day, so the same food invoice sits inside budget one month and over it the next after the census drops. A budget set once at the start of the year drifts from the building's real spending as the census moves. We wrote up how a per patient day budget moves when the census moves on its own, and the short version is that the budget dollars change on every day the census does.
In Adelpo, census syncs daily from PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and other EHRs, and the per patient day budgets adjust from it each day, with the operator choosing how its census is counted. Orders are tracked against those budgets, with alerts. When the invoice lands, it meets a PO and a receipt the system already holds. A bill with no PO, like the staffing invoice in the folder, carries no PO link, and an operator can set up internal POs for services so those bills have something to match against.
Questions controllers ask about Stampli and Adelpo
does stampli integrate with matrixcare?
Stampli has a MatrixCare page on its site that says it automates accounts payable without any changes to how a building uses MatrixCare's electronic health record software. That line is about the accounts payable side, and we did not find census or per patient day budgeting on the stampli.com pages we read. Adelpo syncs census daily from MatrixCare, by API connection or file export, and the per patient day budgets adjust from it. The sync itself is laid out in how procurement connects to MatrixCare census for PPD budgets.
does stampli have census based or per patient day budgeting?
We did not find census or per patient day budgeting on stampli.com, on its healthcare page, its MatrixCare page, or its company page. A feature can exist and sit off those three pages, so the thing to look for in a Stampli demo is a budget after a census change. In Adelpo the per patient day budgets adjust daily from the census sync, and the operator chooses how its census is counted.
is stampli built for skilled nursing facilities?
Stampli's healthcare page is titled "Procure-to-Pay for Healthcare, Social Services, Medical Facilities", and it says skilled nursing facilities are notoriously complex from an accounts payable standpoint. Adelpo is built for multi-facility long-term care operators, skilled nursing and assisted living among them, and our founder owns and operates nursing homes.
does stampli connect to pointclickcare?
We did not find a PointClickCare integration page on stampli.com, and an integration can exist without a page of its own. What to check on any PointClickCare connection is in Connecting Procurement to PointClickCare. Adelpo syncs census daily from PointClickCare, by API connection or file export, and the per patient day budgets adjust from it.
